How to Conduct Vacuum Oven Drying Method?

1. Sample Preparation:
– Collect a representative sample of the material.
– Grind or cut the sample into smaller pieces to enhance the drying process.

2. Weighing the Sample:
– Weigh a clean and dry crucible or dish.
– Place the prepared sample into the crucible and reweigh.
– Record the initial weight (W1) of the sample and crucible.

3. Vacuum Oven Setup:
– Place the crucible in a vacuum oven.
– Set the oven temperature and vacuum level as per the material being analyzed.
– Close the oven and turn on the vacuum pump.

4. Drying:
– The sample is subjected to a vacuum and heated to evaporate and remove moisture.
– The drying process continues until the sample reaches a constant weight.

5. Weighing the Dried Sample:
– When the sample reaches constant weight, turn off the vacuum and remove the crucible from the oven.
– Allow the sample to cool to room temperature in a desiccator.
– Weigh the crucible and dried sample, recording the final weight (W2).
